Stray Animals

Pets Lifeline provides temporary shelter for stray animals found in our community. If we are currently housing any stray animals, they will be listed on the page linked above. If no animals appear, it means we do not have any strays in our care at this time.

Under local regulations, stray animals without identification are held for a mandatory 4-day period. Animals with identification that provides sufficient owner information are held for 14 days to allow time for reclaim.

All stray animals receive basic vaccinations upon intake and are microchipped if no microchip is found. If the animal is not reclaimed within the designated hold period, it will be considered abandoned.

Pets Lifeline works closely with a network of coalition partners to ensure the best possible outcome for each animal. We accept only stray animals to assist partner organizations and help support the broader sheltering community. When space is limited or an animal’s specific needs can be better met elsewhere, a transfer to a partner organization may occur.

Lost & Found

If you’ve lost or found a dog or cat, Pets Lifeline is here to help. Submit a Lost/Found Report using the form linked above to provide essential details. If you’ve found a dog or cat, check for identification tags and bring them to Pets Lifeline or a local vet to scan for a microchip. If you’ve lost a pet, act quickly—post in local lost pet groups, alert nearby shelters, and check our View Stray Animals page regularly. Together, we can help reunite lost pets with their families.

NOTICE: Starting January 1, 2022 Pets Lifeline will be required by law to microchip all stray animals, per State Bill 64 (Section 31108.3 and Section 31752.1) prior to release. Click here to read the full law. This is to increase the chances of reunification of lost pets with owners, thereby reducing the number of animals in shelters and decreasing length of stay.
