Building a new shelter for Sonoma Valley’s only Animal Resource Center

A Vital Community Asset

Since 1982, Pets Lifeline continues to be Sonoma Valley's ONLY animal shelter, playing a critical role in our community providing protection, love, and care to cats and dogs with no place else to turn. In our more than 35-year history, the shelter has given over 18,625 animals a second chance at a forever home. Our Humane Education programs now touch over 1,000 children a year with the work we do in schools and our on-site summer programs.

Expanding Our Paw Print

The need for an expanded facility has never been greater.

Pets Lifeline is extremely limited by facilities that are insufficient to meet the needs of staff and the animals in our care. Our current facility is makeshift at best, comprising an assortment of buildings, trailers, and sheds, and does not offer the type or amount of space we need to ensure the best possible outcomes for all of the animals that depend on us.

Improving Outcomes

The benefits of an enhanced facility could not be more essential.
A clean, modern shelter will attract an increased number of visitors, expediting adoptions and reducing shelter stays. With the guidance and consult from Dr. Denae Brown of UC Davis Koret Shelter Medicine program, the new shelter will be current with improved animal habitats designed to reduce stress for a healthier and enriched shelter environment. We will have a dedicated education and training center where we will host on-site humane education programs, dog training classes, certification for pet assisted therapy, and much.

A Clear Vision

From makeshift shelter to modern animal resource center.
Imagine a lively and inviting Pets Lifeline where dogs, cats, and community members can come together in a welcoming animal-centered environment. When you visit our modernized and expanded animal resource center you will see an open, light-filled space with beautiful enclosures for the cats and dogs, classrooms buzzing with young children learning about compassion and respect for animals, and community members happily interacting with the animals.
