PLL has many needs that volunteers can fill. You are encouraged to be flexible with whatever needs arise. (Please check all that you are interested in)
GENERAL ASSISTANCE
ANIMAL CARE
Brushing and bathing shelter animals, socializing for improved people skills, preparing dinner and Kongs for dogs, litter box duty.
SHELTER ASSISTANT
Help with preparing the shelter for the public between 8am and 12pm. Assistance throughout the day with laundry, washing dishes, miscellaneous cleaning or organizing projects.
FACILITY MAINTENANCE
Gardening, carpentry, repair work, other special projects.
ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT
Shelter Office: Answering phones, greeting the public, taking lost/found reports, preparing adoption folders, other miscellaneous clerical support. Business Office: Data entry, photocopying and filing, assistance with mailings.
OTHER
SPECIAL ASSISTANCE (These require either additional training, paperwork, or both)
CANINE HANDLING
Train the shelter dogs in obedience and good manners while walking and excercising the dogs.
DRIVER FOR VETERENARIAN RUNS
Transport animals to veterinary appointments and back to the shelter.
FERAL CAT TRAPPER
Trap and release feral cats to humanely control the feral cat population in Sonoma Valley.
FOSTER HOME
Temporary care for shelter animals not yet available for adoption.
SPECIAL EVENTS
Work off site events presenting Pets Lifeline to the public and doing adoptions. Great way to promote PLL. Examples of some events: PETCO, 4th of July, Black Cat Cabaret, Critter Carnival and Santa Paws.
We encourage our Pets Lifeline volunteers to spend quality time with the shelter animals. This increases their sociability and chances for adoption. HOURS YOU ARE AVAILABLE TO VOLUNTEER (in shelter or office)
